You Are Not Alone: Being A Queer Survivor

okay, so this was probably one of the harder things i’ve ever had to write, maybe the hardest. one of the most difficult parts about dealing with the rape itself was the fact that i was simultaneously dealing with my own sexuality and gender issues, and that narrative is something i haven’t seen a lot in survivor dialogues. i think it’s important to share what it’s like, because it’s too easy for us to invalidate our experiences and our queerness because of what was done to us. i hope this helps you if you need it, and i hope you know that you are incredible, beautiful, and stronger than ever.
